Your Essential Guide For Going to College

Only in Monday's Irish Independent special CAO supplement

If you've applied for CAO courses this year, Monday’s Irish Independent is unmissable.

Our special CAO Guide lists the points for all courses and it's packed with information for students and parents.

Whether a desired college place is a virtual certainty, or it is a time to consider all options, the supplement will steer school-leavers towards the decision that best suits them.

Guidance counsellor Aoife Walsh, a weekly columnist with the Irish Independent, will cover a range of possibilities,  both inside and outside the CAO, highlighting the many opportunities out there, even for those who have no idea about what to do.

How to accept or defer an offer; options like private colleges, PLC courses, apprenticeships and studying in the UK; information on student grants and accommodation, plus – details of our free Exam Helpline where guidance counsellors will answer your questions.

The free phone Exam 2015 Helpline  - 1800 265 165 - will operate on Monday August 17 and Tuesday August 18, 8am-7pm and Wednesday August 19, 8am-1pm, with professionally-qualified guidance counsellors will be on hand to give one to one answers to individual concerns.

The unique  National Parents Council post primary (NPCpp) helpline  is sponsored by the Irish Independent, eircom and the Department of Education and Skills. As well as member of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, a representative  of the grant-awarding body, SUSI  will also be available to deal with queries.

To complement the helpline, will be running an interactive CAO blog on Monday August 17 from 8am.

You can send questions directly to the blog itself, tweet queries via #IndoSubmit or send emails to
