It's no joke: We're bailing out Greeks with €250m
Taoiseach Brian Cowen shares a joke with Greek prime minister George Papandreou at an EU summit in Brussels yesterday.
Mr Cowen will pledge to loan anything up to €250m to Greece as part of an EU financial bailout despite the country's own budgetary difficulties.
The loans to the debt-ridden Greeks would be used only as a last resort, but might be paid over as soon as next month, if they were needed. Mr Cowen committed yesterday to supporting the EU deal.
