It's in the bag for intrepid travelling mum Jill
WHILE other parents her age were waving farewell as their sons and daughters embarked on backpacking adventures, 53-year-old Jill Aston was busy packing her own rucksack.
The mother of three from Dalkey decided a life overhaul was in order when, in 2006, she went backpacking around the world.
It was while on her travels that the serial entrepreneur, who already had a successful cake-making business, came up with another winner -- "Bagsitt".
"It's a free-standing bag holder that's portable, unobtrusive and acts as a deterrent to thieves when you're in a restaurant or coffee shop," said Jill, now 59.
Jill, who is encouraging other older people with a business idea to give it a go, shared her story as part of National 50+ Enterprise Day run by the County and City Enterprise Boards.
Organisers hope to boost the number of "senior entrepreneurs" following a recent report that showed Ireland lagging behind the UK when it came to older people starting their own business.
