TODAY is the traditional end of Christmas – however retailers are already preparing for Easter.
Easter Eggs have already appeared on the shelves of the Marks and Spencer store in Dublin’s Jervis Street.
At the time of year when many are trying to shed the extra few festive pounds, the retailer is already gearing up for the next holiday.
Easter falls early this year, with the first weekend in April being the Easter bank holiday, just two weeks after St Patrick’s day.
Other retailers in the area so far have not stocked up on the chocolate goodies.
Stores will be hoping that the economic recovery continues into the Spring – as they celebrate the busiest festive period in five years.
Major retailers also reported a stronger than expected spend in the post Christmas sales.
An early Easter may be a blessing – the early spring is traditionally a poor period for retailers as consumers are more frugal after Christmas.
