IT'S set to be a hot week, but hoping to spend Easter on the beach might be a little optimistic.

In recent days the weather has been changeable with sunny skies and temperatures of 20C in some areas of the country. But the good weather has been broken by overcast periods and showers of rain.

It looks like the warm stretch will continue with temperatures expected to reach 17C today. The midlands will have mid-week temperatures of up to 22C, while coastal areas are expected to return to around 20C.

There will be some light wind and possible showers tomorrow and Wednesday, but it is expected to stay dry and warm. Hopes of an Easter scorcher could be dashed, however, as the current indications show that the weather will get cooler.
