It's all about the talent, says 'Voice' judge Corr
IT'S all about the talent and not the gimmicks, said musician Sharon Corr yesterday as auditions for RTE's new talent show 'The Voice' got under way.
Corr, along with Westlife's Kian Egan, singer Brian Kennedy and singer-songwriter Niall Breslin, is one of the judges on the new show.
"I got one lovely girl today with such a pure voice, it proved that this series is about talent, not gimmicks," said Corr as filming continued at the Helix theatre in Dublin.
The judges sit with their backs to the contestants so they select their acts only from hearing their voices.
"Ireland can definitely sing. So far the standard has been so outstanding; it has been hard to choose one act as standing out," Egan said.
More than 150 singers will have tried out for the show by the time filming for this stage finishes on Monday .
Hosted by Kathryn Thomas, the next round takes place at the Helix in November, when the acts chosen by the coaches battle it out for a place in the live shows. The series airs in January.
