It's a baby boom! Irish stars welcome some new members to their families

A celebrity baby boom hit Irish shores this week. One of Ireland's most famous female solo artists and a well-known TV star have both given birth this weekend -- while comedian Tommy Tiernan has just welcomed home his own miracle baby.

Yesterday afternoon, beautiful Irish singer Andrea Corr gave birth to a little baby girl.

The raven-haired Corrs singer, along with her husband Brett Desmond, named their first child Jean in honour of Andrea's late mother, who died tragically young aged 57.

The baby will be a grandchild for billionaire financier Dermot Desmond.

The youngest of the Corrs married Brett Desmond in August 2009 in St Joseph's church in the Co Clare village of Miltown Malbay, watched by Bono, wife Ali and guests.

Her sisters Sharon and Caroline and brother Jim were among the first to extend their congratulations to their overjoyed sister.

Meanwhile, in the early hours of yesterday morning actress Leigh Arnold also welcomed her first child into the world.

The former Clinic star, flanked by fiance Steve Davies, delivered a baby boy named Hunter James Davies, at 5.53am.

Elsewhere Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan and his wife Yvonne McMahon are counting their blessings after bringing home their tiny miracle baby. Little Theo Christopher Tiernan was born weighing just 4lb 4oz and spent two weeks in ICU in the University College Hospital Galway before being welcomed home by his doting mammy and daddy.

The baby, who arrived two months premature, is the couple's third child.

A source close to the couple described how they were delighted to finally have their strawberry-blond bundle of joy home after weeks of hospital visits:

"Yvonne and Tommy are thrilled to have him home, it was a scary time, and Tommy will take nearly two months off work now to help out at home and spend some quality time with his family."
