Irishman to head top communication firm's global operations
John Saunders has been appointed president and chief executive officer of top global communications firm FleishmanHillard.
The 57-year-old, who was president of FleishmanHillard's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region in Dublin, will be based in St Louis, where the agency is headquartered.
In 1990, Mr Saunders and Fleishman Hillard founded Fleishman Hillard Saunders in Dublin, which became one of the global firm's most successful offices.
Prior to his career with the firm, he was a staff journalist with RTE.
Mr Saunders was appointed to the job following a year-long leadership evaluation in which he "stood out in many respects".
"He is a proven leader with a global perspective. He is a consummate public relations professional. He has helped grow and develop people and offices and a region during challenging times. He is an inspiring communicator and a natural collaborator and relationship-builder," the firm added.
His predecessor Dave Senay (60) steps down this month after 32 years with the company.
