A 29-YEAR-OLD Irish construction worker died in a motorcycle accident today in Darwin, Australia.

Keith Rigney from Sandyhill, Westport, Mayo is the second member of his family to die in such circumstances.

Eleven years ago, one of his brothers, Vincent, was killed in a collision between his motorcycle and a car on the Westport to Clifden Road.

Irish consulate officials in Australia are liaising with the dead man’s parents, Bride and Vincent and other members of his family.

It is understood that Keith had been home on holidays at Christmas.

Sympathising with the dead man’s family yesterday, Mayo Minister of State, Michael Ring T.D. said the pain of the tragedy was particularly hard to bear for the Rigney family particularly given the harrowing circumstances of Vincent’s death over a decade ago.

“Our thoughts are with the Rigney family and their relatives on their sad loss”, Minister Ring added.
