Irishman (28) killed in Australian outback road crash

A Co Armagh man has died in a road crash in Australia.

The victim, aged 28 and from Craigavon, lost his life in an accident in the outback in Western Australia (WA) on Saturday.

It is understood that the PSNI informed members of his family yesterday.

The West Australian news reported that the man was a passenger in a blue Toyota Landcruiser wagon travelling on unsealed road surface south-west on Callian-Ora Banda Road around 3pm.

At the junction with Coolgardie North Road the car lost control at a bend.

The driver, a 24-year-old Kalgoorlie man, over corrected the vehicle which left the road surface and rolled several times, which came to rest on its roof.

The rear passenger, the 28 year old man was thrown from the vehicle and suffered life threatening injuries. He died at the scene.

The front seat passenger, a 24 year old Kalgoorlie man suffered minor injuries.

The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to Kalgoorlie Health Campus for medical treatment.
