Irish Rail is experiencing some delays this morning as a sick passenger is awaiting emergency services in Portlaoise.

The Cork to Heuston 5:50am train this morning has been delayed as the train waits for an ambulance to arrive at the scene.

A spokesperson for Irish Rail said that an ambulance was called for the ill passenger before the train reached Portlaoise and delays are expected to be minimal.

The Cork to Heuston has departed Portlaoise 30 minutes late due to the delay.
