Irish nanny’s first selfie goes global
A 97-year-old Irish grandmother has become a viral sensation after taking her first selfie.
A snap by Mary Rose Buffini has been shared almost 500,000 times after it was posted on her grand-daughter’s Facebook blog.
“This is my Nana Mary Rose Buffini," wrote Louise, a mum-of-two who runs the ‘The Mammy Blog’.
"She's 97 and I was trying to teach her about selfies and how you post a pic on Facebook and people can like it."
Speaking to an Australia morning show, the two Dublin ladies said they had been "flabbergasted" by the response.
"I think we're still in shock, we can’t believe how crazy it has been," said Louise.
"I'm flabbergasted. I’m excited. I’m a different women now," added granny Mary, who was none too impressed when asked by the hosts if the telephone was around when she was younger.
The photo of the pair was uploaded on Sunday after Louise took a selfie of herself with her grandmother and promised to tell her how many likes it would get.
“I said I’ll post this and see how many likes she can get for being so old haha. She said she won’t get any bless her,” she said.
