Ireland's leading ragtime pianist plays tributes to piano legends at NCH

COLM "Stride" O'Brien is to play the National Concert Hall featuring the works of ragtime and stride piano legends Scott Joplin, George Gershwin, and Fats Waller.

Colm (www.colmstrideobrien.com) is Ireland's leading exponent of ragtime piano. Tributes to Hoagy Carmichael and The Beatles will be highlights of this lunchtime event at the National Concert Hall, Friday May 25, 1pm to 2pm.

Anglo farce takes to the stage

ANGLO Irish Bank, the bank that brought down a country, has now been turned into Anglo the Musical -- and it's coming to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre from Wednesday November 14-25.

The "hilarious tale of Celtic Tiger Ireland", written by Paul Howard, is based on a story by Johnny Morrison, Darren Smith and Colm Tobin. Using a cast of puppets, it "charts the dramatic rise and fall of the nation" through bankers, politicians, developers and even the odd human being and includes songs like Put a Zero at the End, He's a Friend. Temple Street cycle gets in gear

ON Your Bike charity cycle in aid of Temple Street Children's Hospital will take place on Friday, May 25, in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Dublin.

The staff at Tech Group Europe aim to collectively cycle the equivalent distance from Malin Head to Mizen Head (500km) on stationary bikes. All proceeds from the cycle will go towards the renal ward in the children's hospital.
