Ireland's Giro hope

Ireland's Giro hopes could already be lost after cyclist Dan Martin endured a calamitous fall.

The Garmin-Sharp team leader suffered a horrific crash in the opening stage of the presigious event in Belfast yesterday evening.

The 27-year-old broke his collar bone when he slipped on a manhole cover during the 21.7km route and also took out three members of his team.
