It may have been an underwhelming Bank Holiday weekend but summer could be on the way as temperatures could be as warm as Ibiza this week.

Met Éireann has predicted that the mercury may hit 19 degrees from tomorrow and it will be dry and sunny once early morning mist and fog clears.

On Wednesday it is also set to be dry and sunny with temperatures as high as 16 degrees.

On Thursday and Friday the weather woll be more mixed with some rain and cloud moving in.

There will be fresh and gusty wins on Friday but it will remain warm with temperatures in some parts of the country expected to reach 18 degrees.

At this point it looks as though next weekend will also be warm and dry.

Ireland will be giving Ibiza a run for its money this week with temperatures of between 16 and 19 degrees expected on the island this week.

Today however the forecaster has said it will be a dry day in most areas but scattered showers may occur throughout the day.

It is expected to reach between 13 and 17 degrees.
