International support will help Kerry GAA to reign
There was a time when the very idea of having an international supporters' club for one particular county would have been laughed at.
Proponents would have been accused of getting above their station and adopting a 'soccer-esque' approach to the sport.
But the GAA and the vision of county boards has changed dramatically in the last two decades and it's little wonder some counties are trying to maximise the opportunities presented.
Cork already attracts international membership to their rebel supporters' club and now their neighbours and fierce rivals are taking to London to follow suit.
On Saturday night, at the Gallery venue in Hendon, Kerry legends Mikey Sheehy, Darragh O Se and Sean Walsh will be on hand to officially launch the 'Kerry International Supporters' Club'.
"Through the international supporters' clubs and the. . . financial contributions of supporters all over the world we will raise the finance to develop the existing facilities and commence the first phases of a Centre of Excellence for all county teams," said a spokesman for the Kerry County Board.
More Kerry supporters' clubs are to be established in other parts of the UK, the United States -- and even in Dublin!
