Injured French tourist (25) evacuated by helicopter from Aran Islands

A 25-year-old tourist was evacuated from the Aran Islands on Monday afternoon after falling from her bicycle.

The woman, who was visiting from France, broke her tibia and fibula while cycling around Inis Mór at around 2pm local time.

The Shannon rescue helicopter was deployed to take the woman to the mainland.

She is currently recovering at Galway University Hospital.
