'I'm selling €3.75m mansion - it's too big to live in on my own'
High-profile solicitor Gerald Kean's Drayton Manor mansion has been put on the market for €3.75m.
The celebrity lawyer's Wicklow home was put up for sale on Daft.ie yesterday.
Drayton Manor, near Brittas Bay, Co Wicklow, has been Mr Kean's home for close to 10 years, during which he added a 1,400 sq ft extension.
The solicitor told the Irish Independent just why he put the house up for sale.
"It's too big for me to live in on my own. It's a magnificent property, and I loved it dearly.
"I'm in Dublin six nights a week, so that's also tricky," he said.
"I love the house, and I thought that, even at my age, I'd have family there, but it's too big for me on my own.
"There's 11 bedrooms, with the possibility of there being 14. It's just not suitable."
As for where he will move to, Mr Kean said he will live in Dublin, but will stay in Drayton Manor until it has been sold.
The lavish mansion boasts two acres of land, a traditional-style pub, a 52-seater cinema and a games house.
There are nine bathrooms, a handmade wooden kitchen and a double-height ballroom.
He also has a cigar room in the manor.
"You could be there and be anywhere in the world," he said. "You can just switch off, have a cognac and enjoy the classical music."
