EMMA Murphy has said she is disappointed her former partner Francis Usanga didn’t apologise to her personally after abusing her.

Ms Murphy was appearing on ITV’s Loose Women programme.

A video she posted to Facebook earlier this month went viral worldwide after she accused Mr Usanga of hitting her.

Two weeks ago he gave an interview to the Sunday World in which he admitted being physically abusive to her, and apologising for the upset his actions had caused.

However Ms Murphy told the panel on the ITV show that she was disappointed he did not personally apologise to her, but rather gave an interview to a newspaper.

“I’m really hurt, really really hurt that he didn’t apologise to me personally”, she said.

In the interview published two weeks ago he said: “I’d like to apologise to Emma, her family, to my family and friends.”

He also admitted the young mother was hospitalised as a result of the violence.

“She went to hospital on her own behalf. It’s the worst situation that I’ve ever been in, a situation I didn’t handle and a situation that I was in the wrong.

He added: “No man should hit a woman.”

Ms Murphy told the show that anyone being subjected to domestic violence should tell their families.

“Go to your family, your family are always going to have your back and have your support.

“In every relationship there’s good and there’s bad, and it takes two as well. He was losing his temper more frequently. If you see someone change over time look out for those signs.”
