FORMER property tycoon Derek Quinlan has returned to Ireland to recuperate following a heart bypass procedure.
The 65-year-old financier, who now lives in London, has been staying in the five-star Park Hotel in Kenmare, Co Kerry as he recovers from the operation over two weeks ago.
"He is in recuperation and making good progress," a spokesman recently told the Irish Independent.
The former tax inspector who became a household name during the property boom as the guru of choice for well-heeled investors was spotted this week in the picturesque town.
A passerby who spotted him on Monday said the NAMA debtor "looked shook".
Mr Quinlan was among the 10 largest debtors to the National Asset Management Agency but recently told the 'Sunday Independent' he had reduced his debts by €2.3bn.
He is expected to stay in Kenmare for at least another week.
