TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has vowed to keep his existing mobile phone number so people can call him “anytime” - despite receiving some prank calls.

Mr Kenny has been subjected to a number of joke calls since his number was published on social media sites, but he is adamant he will keep his line open and accessible.

During a speech in America over St. Patrick’s weekend, he declared: “My number is a public number, you can call me anytime”. And people have been doing just that.

“Now you are living proof that if you want to contact the Taoiseach, it can be done,” he told one reporter who called him yesterday.

Other members of the Irish public have taken Mr Kenny at his word and have attempted to get in touch – posting their efforts and the Taoiseach’s number online.

Despite Facebook deleting said post in accordance with their privacy policy, the mobile number was shared, encouraging further interest in dialling Mr Kenny’s line.
