Olivia Sewell's lifelong career dream is closer than ever after she was offered a place in primary school teaching in DCU.

However, like many other students, Olivia is facing into the ongoing accommodation crisis in Dublin.

Olivia, from Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, has an anxious wait this week to hear whether she was lucky enough to get student accommodation on campus for the next academic year.

The 18-year-old applied for a campus apartment during sixth year and will find out by email on Friday if she has secured a place.

Competing for one of 1,100 places, "nervous" Olivia said she didn't know where to begin looking if it didn't work out.

"I don't want to end up commuting or in digs.

"I'll look for somewhere else, but I haven't a clue where to start."
