HEARTBROKEN Tom Meagher planned to frame this photo of his “funny, beautiful” wife Jill as a present but never got to the chance to give it to her.

A year from the day Jill Meagher was raped and murdered in Australia, her husband Tom publicly remembered his wife.

He posted a touching tribute along with this quirky photo of his late wife on Facebook in her memory.

“I love this photo,'' Mr Meagher said. “I printed it out for Jill in work that day so I could frame it. I never got to give it to her. Miss you so much Jilly.”

Earlier, Jill's mother Edith McKeon posted a poem written by a family friend.

“It has been 12 months since that dreadful night when you left your mortal body as an angel ... you

took flight.

“Close your eyes remember Jill inside your heart you'll feel a glow simply channel that love to Edith As we do so ... she will know.”

Melbourne locals turned out in force for the ‘one year on march' in memory of ABC radio employee Jill (29) which was to take place from Sydney Road to Brunswick Road.

White ribbons were tied around trees and there was a garden planted in honour of the tragic Drogheda woman.

Her husband Tom thanked all those whose kind words helped his family through the difficult time.

“A massive thank you to all of you wonderful people who have supported us so selflessly since

Jill was taken from us last year,” the Dublin man wrote online.

“I don't know how I would have coped without all of your love and kindness. Thank you.”

Jill's brutal murder on her way home from Friday night drinks with colleagues shocked the quiet Melbourne suburb of Brunswick.

Serial sex offender Adrian Bayley is serving a life sentence with 35-year minimum.
