Hunt on for two Romanian men missing from Castlerea Prison
A HUNT is on for two inmates who escaped from Castlerea Prison in County Roscommon.
The pair were last seen in the Grove area - is a low security part of the complex - last night.
But they weren’t noticed as missing until 6.30am this morning.
According to official sources, the two Romanian men had been held at Castlerea on extradition warrants.
Gardaí and the Irish Prison Service are investigating.
The brothers left a note behind saying: “We are sorry but we had no choice.”
The brothers have been convicted of carrying out a spate of robberies from car-parking meters in Galway and were not due for release from prison until April next.
One of them had recently received notice from the immigration authorities that he was to be deported.
They were named as Toader Feier (23) and his brother Basile (28|).
