Hunt is on for Irish winner of €29m EuroMillions jackpot

Ireland has a new millionaire after a lucky punter scooped almost €29m in the EuroMillions jackpot.

There was one Irish winner of last night’s jackpot,  which brings to over €1bn the among of money won by Irish EuroMillions players since the draw began in 2004. 

While it was not yet clear where the ticket was sold in the country, players have been urged to check their tickets.

The winning numbers were 11, 20, 35, 37, 45 and the bonus numbers were 3 and 6. The jackpot was €28.9m.  

“We urge everybody to check those tickets to see if they have won this life changing amount,” said Miriam Donohoe, National Lottery spokesperson.

“There is massive excitement at the news of an Irish EuroMillions win. This is our 11th EuroMillions jackpot winner and brings to over €1bn the total in Irish winnings in EuroMillions since it started.

“We have topped the magic €1bn mark. We are really thrilled to have sold the winning ticket here in Ireland.”

She said 30pc of the money raised in lotto ticket sales goes to good causes.

The win brings to 11 the number of jackpots won in Ireland on the pan-European lotto. 

The most recent Irish EuroMillions jackpot winner was a Dublin work syndicate who shared a gigantic €88.5m jackpot in January 2017. 

On average, over 100,000 EuroMillions players in Ireland win cash prizes each week.

In July 2005, Dolores McNamara from Limerick, was Ireland’s first and biggest EuroMillions winner scooping more than €115m.

In July last year, 22 colleagues from Dublin Bus won €23.8m The ticket was sold in O’Hanlon’s Portarlington.
