How to pay the charge

Homeowners can pay the €100 household charge online at by credit/debit card.

The tax can also be paid by filling out a registration form available online or at city and county council offices, in libraries or by calling 1890 357357. Homeowners can pay by credit/debit card, cheque, bank draft or postal order. The form is submitted by post.

Registration forms are also available from post offices, but the charge cannot be paid over the counter.

It can be paid over the counter in local authority offices before March 31.

Non-payment incurs penalties.

A late payment fee of €10 will apply if it is paid within six months of the due date; €20 if between six and 12 months; and €30 if the payment is 12 months late.

Interest of 1pc per month will also be applied.
