How Lynch left his stamp on Irish life
A new stamp marking the centenary of the birth of former Taoiseach Jack Lynch has been launched by An Post.
This commemorative stamp (€1) was designed by Vermillion Design and features a portrait photograph of Mr Lynch.
John "Jack" Lynch was born on 15 August, 1917. A Cork-based barrister and politician, he served two terms as Taoiseach, from 1966 to 1973 and from 1977 to 1979.
Mr Lynch first came to prominence locally as an exceptional sportsman, winning a very impressive 10 senior county championship hurling medals. He went on to win five All-Ireland hurling championships with Cork along with the county's first All-Ireland football title.
