Hopping mad to set a new record

THE good weather gave the country a real summery bounce yesterday -- in more ways than one.

While thousands enjoyed festivals and fun, or just lazed around on the grass, a motley crew of 1,505 bounced into the record books on Upper Mount Street, Dublin.

That is the most people to bounce a multi-coloured space hopper for a minute anywhere in the world.

And joining them with glee was nine-year old Megan Edney, pictured, from Dublin.

Mark Duckenfield, one of the organisers, said: "That was absolutely nuts and great, great fun. I'm completely delighted we've broken the world record."

And the good news is the warm and sunny weather will continue this week. After a hot weekend, temperatures are set to climb today, reaching 24C or even 25C in some inland areas.
