More than 100 premises in Dublin’s south inner city are without electricity today following a power cut.

ESB Networks said 20 customers in the Leeson Street area were without power over night after a fault to a cable.

However engineers had to disconnect power to another 86 businesses and homes in the area to repair the damaged cable, a spokeswoman said.

“We expect it to be back just after lunch time,” she added.

Separately, about 20 customers are without power  on Blessington Street, on the north side of the city centre, after a fault to an underground cable.

Power should be returned in that area this evening, ESB Networks added.
