Higgins drops plan for personal leaflet
FINE Gael MEP Jim Higgins and his pro-treaty colleagues in the European Parliament were considering putting out personalised leaflets calling for a Yes vote.
There is funding available from their parliamentary groups -- such as the European People's Party in his case. But he said they decided against it because the maximum number of leaflets would have been 25,000 each -- not much when his Ireland North West constituency has 880,000 people across 11 counties.
So Jim has been turning up in person at public meetings instead.
