Hector saddles up for cracking fun

FITTINGLY, it was one of the more bizarre photoshoots of recent times.

A television personality, a top jockey and a former sports star took part in a sometimes-messy egg-and-spoon race in Dublin's St Stephen's Green yesterday ahead of the equally ridiculous Jockey Olympics.

The 'Olympics' will take place at Naas racecourse, Co Kildare, next Sunday, February 21, in aid of the GOAL Haiti Appeal.

Hector O hEochagain will MC the event, while Gerry Loftus -- a former champion on 1980s TV show 'Superstar' -- will be the referee and score-master.

Barry Geraghty will be a team captain along with Paul Carberry and Ruby Walsh.

The competition will incorporate three other events: a slow bicycle race, a three-legged race and kicking a football through a tyre to score points.

Our picture by Paul Mohan shows Hector and Barry Geraghty announcing the event yesterday.
