Heavyweights and contraceptive trains for DTF

Irish literary heavyweights are leading the charge at this year's Dublin Theatre Festival.

Enda Walsh, Brian Friel and Conor McPherson are amongst the playwrights featuring in the line up.

Conor McPherson's award winning play, 'The Night Alive', will open the festival.

The production stars Love/Hate actors Ian Lloyd Anderson and Laurence Kinlan.

Regarded playwright Enda Walsh will showcase his opera The Last Hotel while director Wayne Jordan presents a new interpretation of harrowing tragedy Oedipus at the Abbey Theatre.

Rough Magic Theatre Company's new musical The Train about the notorious contraceptive train is tipped to be the runaway hit of the festival.
