Surgeries postponed at Temple Street Children's Hospital due to power cut
SURGERIES at Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin have been postponed today following a power cut.
A fault in the hospital's electrical system at around 9.30am caused the outage with the hospital's power system.
As a safety measure all scheduled surgeries which included 14 day cases and three in-patients cases were postponed this morning.
Emergency surgeries will go ahead this afternoon. Four elective MRIs also had to be postponed this morning.
In a statement released this afternoon the hospital said: "Temple Street Children’s University Hospital experienced an isolated fault in a sub-area of the hospital’s electrical system at 9.30am which has essentially been rectified but is still affecting one area within the Emergency Department where there is a problem with phone lines and lighting. Hence the hospital is currently off-call for ambulances."
All other current in-patients in the hospital are stable and being cared for within existing resources.
