St James's Hospital suspends weekend visiting of patients due to influenza outbreak
St James's Hospital has suspended people visiting patients this weekend due to an influenza outbreak.
In a Public Health Notice released earlier today, hospital bosses confirmed they were experiencing an outbreak of influenza.
As a result and "in the interest of patient safety", visiting in the hospital this weekend has been "completely suspended".
"Friends and family of patients are kindly requested not to visit the hospital this weekend," the statement said.
The hospital's Emergency Department will remain open.
The hospital also requested that people with "flu-like symptoms" are reminded to phone their GP in the first instance before visiting the hospital.
