The 'Race in Pink' at Galway Racecourse raised €95,000 for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, which supports the breast cancer research team lead by Professor Michael Kerin at the Lambe Institute, NUI Galway.

Prof Kerin said the programme had multiple research interests including the genes that cause breast cancer; ways of diagnosis, including microwave breast imaging; and the use of stem cells in breast reconstruction. The new three-day 'Race in Pink' festival took place ahead of the October bank holiday.
