Head-to-head: new proposals
Yesterday public service managers tabled two key proposals in talks with unions:
• Reducing the maximum amount of uncertified (without a doctor's note) sick leave that can be taken from seven to three days a year.
• Halving the maximum certified sick leave allowed to three months' full pay and three months on half pay, rather than six months on fully paid leave.
Generally, staff get six months' fully paid leave followed by six months on half pay in any four-year period. However, this can vary.
