Hollywood star Brooke Shields shared her Irish adventures as she holidayed in the west for the festive season.

The 51-year-old American actress, model and former child star was travelling with her husband, comedy writer and TV producer Chris Henchy and their daughters Rowan and Grier. The family stayed at the five-star Dromoland Castle.

And she had a close encounter with Darby, the resident Harris Hawk as she enjoyed the ancient art of falconry as part of her Irish sojourn.

She shared Instagram images and video of her encounter with the raptor which she dubbed her "new best friend" - and clearly enjoyed the craic in Co Clare last week.

The family also went horse riding, with Brooke posting on Instagram: "Loved ones, horses. Incredible views. And perfect Irish weather. A glorious morning in Castlefergus, Co Clare."

Her career stretches over four decades and she is still in big demand, as she now stars in the hit US gothic TV comedy Scream Queens.
