GOING, going, gone! Labour's Dominic Hannigan was left red-faced yesterday when a publicity stunt outside Sinn Fein's Dublin offices almost went horribly wrong.

Attempting to take the fiscal treaty battle to the heart of the No campaign, the Meath TD was hanging a pro-treaty poster outside the SF shop on Parnell Square.

Mr Hannigan had placed the poster when the trouble began. As he started his descent, the TD almost came crashing down to earth when the ladder that he was standing on slipped out from under his feet.

Luckily, a party member quickly came to his rescue and secured the ladder.

Mr Hannigan took the incident in his stride and laughed it off.

Blaming party colleagues Jed Nash and John Lyons, he said that one of them became distracted by the opportunity to appear in a picture holding a poster.
