TAOISEACH Enda Kenny is facing a revolt among grassroots Fine Gael members after the leader of the party in Donegal voted last night for a motion calling for Irish Water to be abolished.
Cllr Barry O'Neill and three other Fine Gael councillors voted for the motion put forward by ex-Labour councillor Frank McBrearty Jnr.
In the vote, 33 of the 34 councillors present in Lifford voted for the motion. Veteran Fine Gael councillor Bernard McGuinness abstained.
"The Government must abolish water charges because I believe people have given enough," said Cllr O'Neill.
"I have made my feelings known within the party for months."
