AN 82-year-old grandmother has been left traumatised after being tied up and gagged during a terrifying raid on her home.

The two raiders, posing as workmen in hi-vis jackets, gained entry to the woman’s home at Hazelbury Green in Clonee in north Dublin last Thursday.

The incident unfolded at around 8.30am.

She was then dragged updaters, her hands tied behind her back and her mouth gagged with duct tape.

The duo then ransacked her home, looking for cash and other valuables.

When they were unable to locate anything, they returned to the woman and ripped the duct tape from her mouth.

They then took her around the house, demanding she show them where valuables were hidden.

Gardai have said the men are described as being in the mid to late 20s, with short brown hair.

The men were forced to leave empty-handed however, and made their escape in a white van.

No arrests have been made in relation to the incident, and investigations continue.
