A suspected cyber attack on a Government website is blocking businesses from appealing rate valuations, a TD has warned.

Fianna Fáil deputy Barry Cowen said the Valuation Appeals Tribunal website has been the victim of a suspected malware attack. He said rate payers in Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Longford, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, South Dublin and Westmeath face new bills in 2018.

"The Valuation Tribunal Office website has been inaccessible for a number of days and is deemed a security risk to anyone trying to access it. This has meant that many businesses are unable to access relevant information for their appeal," he said.
