Government split over abortion bill
A MAJOR Government split, led by European Affairs Minister Lucinda Creighton, could see up to 10 Fine Gael TDs voting against the abortion law, writes Fiach Kelly.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has told Fine Gael TDs they will not be party candidates in the next general election if they defy the party whip by voting against the legislation.
The first of the group of Fine Gael TDs will vote against the legislation today, while more will wait for the final vote on the legislation in the next fortnight.
