Golfer angry at being made butt of Cowen's jokes

A CHAMPION golfer who was mimicked by the Taoiseach at the infamous Fianna Fail knees-up on Monday last night joined the growing chorus of critics outraged over Brian Cowen's behaviour.

Ryder Cup-winning golfer Philip Walton released a statement saying he had written to the Taoiseach seeking an explanation for making him the butt of jokes during post-dinner celebrations at the Ardilaun Hotel in Galway.

It was widely reported in the media that Mr Cowen did a 'very funny' impersonation of the intensely camera-shy sportsman who is well known for his high-pitched voice.

Mr Walton, who lives in north Dublin, told Reuters news agency: "From what I have heard and read so far, the stories are of concern to myself, my wife and also my children as they have seen reports on YouTube."

He said he was angry over the whole 'gargle-gate' affair.
