Give your bag the boot for charity
WOMEN'S love affair with handbags is legendary but this week they are being encouraged to 'break up with their bags' and donate them to the Dublin Simon Community.
Big and small, old and not-so-old, fabric or leather, donated bags can be dropped off at The Big Bag Break-up Boutique in Dundrum Town Centre.
It operates until February 17, after which the bags will be sold in Dublin Simon Community's shops to raise much-needed funds for the charity, so that it can continue its vital work helping the homeless.
Everyone who donates a bag to The Bag Break-up will be entered in a competition to win a brand new bag.
Rachel Lenny, marketing assistant, and Sarah Lynch, marketing executive, from the Dundrum Town Centre management team, posed with some of the 19 bags that have been hand-picked from stores in the centre as rewards for the donors.
The haul includes bags from Accessorize, Linea, and Biba at House of Fraser, Ted Baker, Hobbs, Karen Millen, Cath Kidston, River Island and Aldo..
Jeanette Jordan of Dundrum Town Centre said every bag donated would be delivered to Dublin Simon's two shops on Thomas Street and Camden Street.
"Hopefully, fashion fans will come out in force to support our cause," she said.
Kelly Crowley, of Dublin Simon Community, said: "We'd like to thank Dundrum Town Centre for coming up with and accommodating this idea."
