Giovanna Borza is the latest creative talent from the Irish-Italian community to take the fashion industry by storm.
The 27-year-old from Lucan, Dublin, won the Louis Copeland prize at Griffith College last year and interned with the man of suits.
Last night, Giovanna continued with her winning streak and graduated with six classmates, scooping the coveted Joanne Hynes prize, which will see her intern with Ireland's leading fashion and accessories designer for six months.
"I'm thrilled, I loved working on my XO graduate collection, which was inspired by aliens and exoskeletons," said Giovanna, whose parents Claude and Phyllis are in the restaurant business.
Giovanna's graduate collection impressed with her use of exotic leathers such as eel skin and sting ray.
Last night's salon show at the Griffith College banqueting hall was styled by designer and lecturer Grainne Walsh, and fashion course director Jane Leavey oversaw the work of 14 first-year and 25 second-year students.
