Grab the sun cream: the good weather is set to return this week, with temperatures rising up to 23 degrees Celsius.

After a dreary weekend, it's time to dust down the beach towels as the weather is set to improve for the rest of the week. A spokesperson from Met Éireann said that, while rain was expected in most parts of the country overnight, this morning the skies will clear.

"There will be rain in many parts of the country on Monday morning, however it won't stick around for long and will clear in the afternoon, with temperatures ranging from 14 to 19 degrees in the east," the spokesperson said.

"High pressure and warm air from the south indicates that it will remain dry from Tuesday to Thursday, with high temperatures lasting until the end of the week."

On Tuesday, temperatures will reach up to 18 degrees in the west and up to 20 degrees in the east.

Wednesday will be bright and sunny, with temperatures rising up to 23 degrees in the east.

It will be cooler in the east on Thursday, while the west will see temperatures of up to 23 degrees.

There will be a good deal of cloud at times in some western and southern coastal fringes.

Light winds are expected throughout the week.

It's uncertain if the good weather will last until next weekend, with a chance of rain and windy conditions on Saturday.
