Gay reverend fined over 'indecent' images of boys

A GAY clergyman was facing the sack last night after he was placed on the sex offenders register for possessing indecent images of children.

Rev Stephen Crowther (48) from Lisnaskea, Co Fermanagh - who had previously worked in Dublin and Kilkenny - was also fined €3,700 by a court in Enniskillen. His Church of Ireland bishop for Clogher, Rt Rev Michael Jackson, said: "I see this as a betrayal of ministry."

The court heard that a postal package with a video of naked young boys was intercepted by Customs officers in England on its way to Crowther's rectory at Castlebalfour Road in 2005.

Police later raided the house after forcing their way in and found other videos on top of his wardrobe.

While none were of an explicit sexual nature, all contained images of naked young boys and teenagers, the court heard.
