Gardai uncover three pipe bombs in overnight raid

Gardai uncovered three pipe bombs and ammunition in a house raid in Limerick last night.

An investigation is underway into the discovery of “a number of suspect devices and a small amount of ammunition” following the search of an unoccupied house at Ballysheedy East in Limerick at 2.45am, gardai say.

 

The three devices and shotgun cartridges were discovered during a planned search at the house.

 

Gardai requested an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to make the devices safe.

 

The area is sealed off for a forensic technical examination and the devices have been removed for technical and ballistics tests.
