GARDAI have seized approximately €4 million worth of cannabis herb in Lucan, Co Dublin.

The seizure happened at approximately 2.50pm on Friday when uniformed Gardaí from Ronanstown stopped a truck travelling inbound on the N4 at Lucan, Co. Dublin.

It is understood that stopping the truck was not part of a bigger intelligence operation.

"Following a search of the truck cannabis herb (pending analysis) with an estimated street value in excess of €4 million euro was discovered," a garda spokesman said.

He can be held for up to seven days.
