Gardai seize €1.3m worth of cannabis

GARDAI have arrested two men after seizing cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €1.32m in a yard in Louth.

“As part of an ongoing intelligence-led operation carried out by the Garda National Drugs Unit with the assistance of the Drogheda Drugs Unit, Gardai searched a yard in Termonfeckin, Co. Louth yesterday afternoon ,” a spokesman said.

“During the course of the search cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €1,320,000 (pending analysis) was recovered. Two men (40 and 59) were arrested at the scene and detained under the provisions of 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Drogheda Garda Station.”

The two men are scheduled to appear in court later today charged in connection with the seizure.

Separately, a Spanish woman in her 30s has been arrested after cocaine with an estimated value of €140,000 was found at Dublin Airport during a search.
